Paypal…Doesn’t get better with age

Normally, I have alot of patience. Not the Guns N Roses song either. But tonight Paypal, in relation to this, ticked me off.

I am currently adding a store (LIVE NOW Btw!) and i was going to either use this site or Paypal. I chose to go with paypal because they already had my banking info and all that was required (supposedly) was an upgrade to the business account. Total amount of time (max) should have been 10 minutes or less since all i had to do was answer a few questions. I truly believe in the work smarter not harder when it comes to things. Especially when it comes to setting up new accounts. I just wanna plug in the info and move on with my life. Not a hard ask.

So I get on paypal and i go through all the motions. This was around 4pm . got through the info and in order to sign up i had to sign out and sign back in to make the change. ok. Fine

I log out, log back in. Then the headaches started

I got a notification from Ebay that my funds were on hold Umm i haven’t sold anything in at least a year and for the most part i just buy on ebay and not sell. There also wasn’t a timestamp so who knows when this was from. It may have been a “ghost” message but I don’t know. I get that taken care of.

Everything looks fine. I go to connect my Squarespace account. it gets to my paypal and it wants me to confirm my number. Fine. i enter my new number as my number changed a few months ago and save. it takes it but it makes the OLD number the primary.

I log onto customer service and the rep takes care of it. im down to the 2 phone numbers I am supposed to have. Ducky.

I go to connect squarespace again to the account. the phone number issue comes up again.

I log back into the chat, the rep i am dealing with says i need to move you to another dept. I’m like ok. fine. 5 minutes goes by, 10 minutes and eventually 30 minutes goes by! no estimated time before i get some help. no message in the chat saying they’re working on it. Then I get disconnected. Incompetence isn’t even the proper description of what I encountered!

Needless to say after that i logged back out and then in and closed the account.

Paypal totes itself as its end all be all as far as money goes. But instead, since ive been using it dating back to 2013, its been buggy, the customer service has been hit and miss (at best) and only ticked me off more than I should have been. A 10 minute job turned into a 2 hour job before i’m like Paypal is no longer worth the headache.

I went to squarespace payments immediately after and that only took 15 minutes at most.

Thank you Squarespace for saving my sanity!

Lesson of the day: Don’t use paypal! lol
